1. General Enquiries

Yes. Wright & Justice Firm is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Our SRA number is 647821. You can verify our registration on the SRA's online register at sra.org.uk. All of our solicitors are individually registered and hold current practising certificates.

Our offices are located at 14 Victoria Court, Suite 5, London, EC2V 8RF. We are a 3-minute walk from Bank Underground Station (accessible via the Central and Northern lines). If you are unable to visit us in person, we are also happy to arrange telephone or video consultations.

Yes. We offer a free 30-minute initial consultation for all new clients. This gives us the opportunity to understand your situation and advise you on the best course of action. To book, please call us on +44 (0) 20 7946 0320 or use our online contact form.

Our offices are open Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 18:00, and Saturday from 09:00 to 13:00. We are closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays. However, our 24/7 emergency legal helpline (+44 (0) 20 7946 0999) is always available for urgent criminal and other time-sensitive matters.

Absolutely. We regularly advise clients via email, telephone, and video conference (Zoom or Microsoft Teams). Many of our clients are based outside London or are unable to attend in person, and we are fully equipped to provide the same high standard of service remotely.

2. Fees & Billing

Our fees vary depending on the type and complexity of work. We offer several fee structures: fixed fees (for straightforward matters such as standard conveyancing or simple wills), hourly rate billing, conditional fee arrangements (no win, no fee) for personal injury and some employment matters, and legal aid where available. We will always discuss fees transparently before any work begins.

Yes. We are a legal aid contracted firm for criminal defence matters. This means that if you qualify financially and your case meets the relevant criteria, we can represent you at public expense in criminal proceedings. For civil matters, legal aid availability is more limited — please contact us to discuss your eligibility.

A conditional fee agreement (CFA), commonly known as no win, no fee, means that if your claim is unsuccessful, you do not pay our legal fees. If you win, our fees are paid from the compensation awarded, usually with a success fee uplift. We offer CFAs in most personal injury and employment tribunal cases. We will explain all the financial implications before you sign anything.

Never. We believe in complete fee transparency. Before we start work, we will provide you with a written fee estimate or fixed price quote. We will always notify you in advance if circumstances change and additional work becomes necessary. There are no surprises at Wright & Justice Firm.

3. Criminal Law

The most important thing to do is to exercise your right to free legal advice. You have the right to speak to a solicitor before and during police questioning — this is free of charge and cannot be used against you. Call our 24/7 emergency line on +44 (0) 20 7946 0999 immediately. Do not answer police questions until your solicitor arrives. Remember: you have the right to remain silent.

Yes. Our criminal defence solicitors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to attend police stations anywhere in England and Wales. Police station advice and representation is free of charge under the duty solicitor scheme. Do not speak to police without us present.

A solicitor is your primary legal adviser — they manage your case, advise you on strategy, prepare all documentation, and communicate with the other side and the court. A barrister is a specialist advocate who may be instructed by your solicitor to represent you in court, particularly in higher courts such as the Crown Court or Court of Appeal. Our founding partner Arthur Wright was called to the Bar before qualifying as a solicitor, giving our firm unique dual expertise.

4. Family Law

The minimum timeframe for a divorce in England & Wales is approximately 6 months, following the introduction of no-fault divorce in April 2022. This timeline assumes both parties cooperate and there are no complications. If financial matters or child arrangements are contested, the overall process can take 12–24 months or longer. Our family law team can advise on how to keep proceedings as efficient as possible.

In most cases, yes. The majority of divorces in England & Wales are now handled administratively through the online divorce portal, without the need for either party to appear in court. However, if you and your spouse cannot agree on financial matters or arrangements for children, court proceedings may be necessary. We always explore non-court options — such as mediation and collaborative law — before recommending litigation.

The welfare of your children is the paramount consideration under English family law. If you and your partner can agree on arrangements for the children, these can be recorded in a Parenting Plan or a Child Arrangements Order by consent. If you cannot agree, the court will make an order based on what it determines to be in the best interests of the child. Our family law team helps parents reach fair, workable arrangements with the minimum of conflict.

5. Corporate & Property

While it is not legally required, engaging a solicitor when starting a business can save you significant time, money, and risk in the long term. We help new businesses choose the right legal structure (sole trader, partnership, or limited company), draft shareholders agreements and employment contracts, register trademarks, and ensure regulatory compliance from day one. Our SME start-up packages offer fixed-fee advice tailored to your budget.

A typical residential conveyancing transaction in England takes between 8 and 12 weeks from instruction to completion, though this can vary significantly depending on the complexity of the transaction, the length of the chain, and the speed of mortgage offers and local authority searches. We keep our clients updated at every stage and work to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible.

6. Making a Complaint

We take all complaints seriously and operate a formal complaints procedure. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please write to our Complaints Partner at complaints@wrightandjustice.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and provide a full written response within 8 weeks. If you remain unhappy following our response, you may refer the matter to the Legal Ombudsman at legalombudsman.org.uk.
